Hands-On Trompe L'oeil Workshop
In this day long Trompe L'oeil Class, participants will paint a bulletin board or
letter rack with photos and magazine clippings. First, the guidelines of trompe l'oeil
will be reviewed and discussed. Then a model will be made from which to work by assembling
a collage of flat elements onto an 18x24 inch cardboard panel.
These elements must include one color photo, one black and white photo and
something graphic, such as a playing card.
This image will then be transferred to another panel to paint.
Using this model, participants will learn the sequence of painting a Trompe l'oeil illusion.
You will paint sharp edges, torn edges, learn how to paint a photograph and how to compose
a picture utilyzing visual cues and contrasts in order to enhance the illusory quality of your paintings.
