International Artisan: Lucretia Moroni

Italian-born Lucretia Moroni, attended the renowned Van der Kelen School in Brussels and
continued her training in interiors with the Renzo Mongiardino architecture firm in Milan.
After working with Franco Zeffirelli for the sets of La Traviata,
she moved to New York City in the early 1980’s.
She has worked on a large number of private and public projects,
including the renovation of Bethesda Fountain in Central park,
residences in Italy, South America and the U.S., and has been
published widely in design and general magazines worldwide.

Course on Silkscreen application for decorative surfaces-floors-fabrics

     

Lucretia's course runs for TWO half-days at the Faux Expo.
This workshop will present different, more effective ways, to transfer patterns and detailed
designs onto different surfaces such as wood floors , faux painted surfaces and fabrics.
Silk-screen design and printing will be presented as an alternative to stenciling or hand painting.
There will be an introduction to the concept of how to select an appropriate pattern.
Scale, color concept and repeat will be examined with a brief slide show and samples.
Lucretia will use some of her existing screens to do demonstrations on different surfaces.
During class students will be preparing panels, boards and canvases to print on.
Then, students will be paired-up to print on the different surfaces.

Day 1- a) Introduction to the main concepts of silkscreen, pattern repeat,
color and applications through a slide show and live sample presentation.
b) Silkscreen printing demonstration, which includes color a surface preparation demonstration.
c) Selection of each group of a Fatto a Mano pattern to work on, preparation of surfaces and colors to be used.
d) First printing practice, strenth and angle to be used, cleaning method, repeat registration, etc.

Day 2- a) With the previous day experience each student should prepare more surfaces,
make color corrections and later print at least 4 repeats of the selected pattern.
b) Finally the workshop will conclude with a public presentation of all the work done by the students.

This class runs from 1pm-5pm Wednesday(Aug 10th) and 1pm-4pm Thursday(Aug 11th).
Course Tuition is $250.00/person.
